“Fine casual dining and creative regional cuisine” - that’s the hallmark of The Swag, a beautiful all-inclusive mountain resort in Waynesville, NC. Our FRS Asheville team recently had the pleasure of completing a project for the mountaintop hideaway which is celebrating its 38th season! theswag.com

From regional to large publications like National Geographic and Condé Nast Traveler, The Swag has gotten a lot of great press (theswag.com/in-the-news). The resort’s award-winning restaurant was in need a of new hood system and selected FRS Asheville as a local partner to tackle a challenging situation.

The Challenge

The Swag upgraded an existing hood that was installed back in the late 80’s to a new Accurex hood system. The space was extremely constrained, and the installer had to work a lot of “magic” to get everything to fit. FRS worked with Chris Saylors of A & A Hood Systems and Repair. Chris took on this job with a very short notice and time frame.

The Solution

This job was completed in a week, from demo of the existing hood to installation of the new hood, which was customized to work with a big recess in the ceiling. Chris added a back splash and a stainless floor pan to accommodate the old style of the Inn. In addition, we made sure that the original wooden walls and floors are protected from the grease & heat. Chris did an amazing job with the fire suppression and in keeping it low profile because The Swag wanted to have it run under the over-shelf of the range to save space on the front side of the line. The Results

The owners and all management of the Swag were beyond pleased with the work done and how easy Chris and his crew were to work with. They were true professionals. The Swag’s Award-Winning Restaurant

The Swag’s all-inclusive inn serves seasonally inspired menus from its award-winning restaurant (theswag.com/award-winning-nc-restaurant). Guests enjoy made-to-order omelets from the full breakfast buffet, picnic lunches to take along on day’s adventure in the mountains, a social hour of hors d’oeuvres at 6:00 p.m on the front porch and an exceptional dinner menu.

Evening meals are influenced by the seasons and fresh herbs, fruits, and vegetables from the property’s own gardens. According to The Swag’s website, “local farmers and purveyors help supplement the menu with delicious, locally produced items such as mountain trout from Sunburst Trout Farms in the nearby Pisgah National Forest.”
